PRAYATNA
PROGRAMS
Prayatna Protocol
- The case history of the child is obtained from parent interviews/ teacher questionnaires etc.
- Every child is assessed individually at the beginning and end of each term. The assessment includes standardized psychological tests and batteries developed at Prayatna. Prayatna has four terms in a year-
- The goals for a term are drawn up for each child based on his/her assessment and input from the parents/ teachers.
- Intervention programs are based on the goals drawn up for the child.
- Classes are, by and large, conducted on a one-on-one basis. Sometimes children with similar profiles are paired up.
- The progress of the child is followed closely. Intervention programs are modified depending upon the child’s response to the program.
- Children attend classes at Prayatna after school hours to help them enhance skills that are required in the mainstream classroom.
- Most children have to attend intervention classes for at least a year in order to show sustained improvement.
- Once a child acquires the basic skills, and is coping successfully in the mainstream classroom, we recommend that (s)he stops attending classes at Prayatna. The duration of enrollment, however, varies for each individual child.
- The centre also conducts workshops for teachers and parents on
issues related to learning difficulties.
