Does your child have a learning disability?
- Was the child a premature baby?
- Was there any trauma at birth?
- Were the child’s milestones (walking/ talking etc.) delayed?
- Did the child have a fall or accident that could have caused minor brain damage?
- Does the child suffer from seizures?
- Do any family members experience academic difficulties?
- Does the child appear bright on oral tasks but fails to perform well in school?
- Does the child avoid reading?
- Is the child unable to read new material?
- Does the child confuse & reverse letters/ words while reading/ spelling (E.g., b/d; dog/god; form/from)?
- Does the child have difficulties in copying from the blackboard?
- Does the child spell out every word in order to read?
- Does the child show poor performance in only one or two areas?
- Is the child’s oral comprehension far superior to his/her reading comprehension?
- Does the child experience problems in fine-motor coordination (Eg. tying shoelace, putting on buttons etc.)
- Does the child make innumerable spelling mistakes?
- Does the child have difficulty in retrieving names of objects, colours etc.?
- Does the child have difficulty in remembering "math facts" (addition, subtraction & multiplication tables)despite adequate instruction & exposure?
- Does the child have problems in handwriting?
